I hadn’t been to the grocery store in a long time. Yesterday afternoon was the first time I made a large grocery trip since before the baby was born (almost 8 weeks ago). For this grocery trip, I wanted to go to Publix to take advantage of the .59 cent lb turkey deal I read about on I Heart Publix and also pick up the free pasta this week.
I made my list, printed off my coupons and loaded up the kids.
I ended up with a ton more stuff than shown in this picture. In this picture, I ended up with 21 boxes of pasta all for free. Actually better than free…because I earned over $6 in overage and free pasta! All the Quick Cook pasta had .50 cent peelie coupons stuck to the boxes…which doubled to $1 off each box. Yippee! The Cheerios were a great deal too because they ended up costing $.99 cents a box with the sale and the peelie coupons.
I also bought 5 turkeys at .59 cents a pound……and a bunch of other stuff!
I was very happy to have a truck load of groceries for $129.50!
I still have a list of items to get before the baby is born, however, I’m coming very close to being finished. In between cleaning and organizing and getting my birth supplies ready, I’m continuing to stock up on food and fill my freezer. I guess you never come to a point where you are all stocked up….at least not around here!
Last week, I visited the bakery outlet bread store and bought over $20 worth of bread. Most items were .69 cents a loaf up to $1. I froze loaf bread, bagels and buns.
Yesterday, I was able to take advantage of some really great grocery deals this week at Kroger and Publix which helped in the area of my freezer and pantry stockpile. I came home with a ton of stuff and saved over $130 in coupons combined with sales. It was a very fruitful trip, especially since the coupons I used were internet printable coupons, hang tag coupons I found, peelie coupons and blinkie machine coupons! I also stopped off at Kroger and found lots of clearanced out bakery breads for .49 cents to $1 which I froze for using for french toast and pizza subs. I found cheap Bolthouse drinks as well. They had them clearanced out to $1.64, which is a great price anyway, but they also had “save .55 cents” hangtag coupons all over them as well! The expiration dates weren’t until October, so I stocked up on some drinks for me.
I was thrilled to find free sour cream, .25 cent yogurt, $1 cheese and $1.09 Bolthouse. I pay regular price for the Stonyfield yogurt even if I don’t have coupons for it. I love the plain whole yogurt and add organic frozen blueberries (from Costco) or I mix other Stonyfield flavors with the plain whole yogurt to make it not so sweet.

Check out more Publix deals for this week over at I Heart Publix….
Here are some highlights from the grocery deals from around the web this week of 4/4 – 4/10.
The Mambo Sprouts website has some new coupons up. If you use Seventh Generation baby diapers and wipes, you can print off a $1 coupon along with some other organic / all natural coupons.
Whole Foods has an awesome coupon booklet for March/April 2010. It has over $30 in coupons. Or you can also pick up the booklet at your local Whole Foods store. Some Publix grocery stores take Whole Foods coupons as competitor coupons too.
Trader Joe’s has their plain cheerio brand cereal, Joe’s O’s, for the everyday low price of $1.99 a box. They also have a great deal on organic yogurt, 32 oz. tub for $2.99. Their 1 lb packages of ground beef are also $1.99. If you have a Trader Joe’s in your area, they are well worth checking out and comparing prices.
Here is a link to this week’s Walmart deals. If you need diapers, Luvs brand diapers are on sale for $6.64. After the $1 off coupon that is out, $5.64 is a decent deal for diapers. I also saw end caps with clearanced out Huggies brand diapers. There are several coupons out for these diapers in which you can score a decent deal on diapers.
Here’s the best deals of the week over at Target here.
If your looking for the new Publix deals for the week of 4/5 – 4/13, check out this link. I’m hoping to find the .14 cent Craisins and get some of the .97 cent Northland 100% juice. Publix has also brought back the popular $10 off a $50 BP gas card when you purchase $25 in groceries.
That’s all for now…..
I didn’t spend enough time this week planning my grocery shopping. I had laundry overtaking me and lots of early spring garden work as well as revamping my blog. This week we made a lot of pancakes, tortillas and bread. We had a lot of simple and inexpensive meals this week and stretched the amount of money we spent on food pretty thin! We went through 20 lbs of potatoes, 10 lbs of pasta, 8 lbs of oranges, 10 lbs of apples, several gallons of milk, several pounds of butter and cheese, several heads of cabbage, 4 lbs of dry beans, 12 dozen tortillas, 5 loaves of bread and 10 lbs of bananas…..and that is all I counted but it was a lot more food. I should keep track of everything we eat for a week and blog it. I think I would even be shocked!
But despite my busy schedule and being more unprepared than normal, I was able to find some really great deals this week at the grocery store. I only shopped briefly at Kroger.
- Continuing sale on Mott’s Apple Juice, buy 8 and get $4 off your total order which made them $.99 cents a jug. So I bought 8 more jugs.
- Large 8 lb bags of oranges for $3.99! I bought 2 bags. The oranges are delicious too!
- Large boxes of Cheerios were $2.99! I didn’t have any coupons or I could have done better, but I bought several boxes for Sunday morning breakfast….which is always busy around here getting everyone ready for Church.
- I also found large blocks of Kroger brand cheese for $2.99 (regularly over $5)
Even without a lot of coupons ( i only used 2 coupons!!), just buying store sales and taking advantage of the store instant rebates, I saved 57%!!! So I was pleased since it wasn’t a very prepared trip!
Remember that Kroger deals are regional. Check your region! When I post Kroger deals they will be from the Louisville region (Middle Tennessee).

I found a few Kashi deals and coupons tonight.
First of all, the Mid Tennessee Krogers:
I checked some Mid Tn Krogers tonight and saw several varieties of Kashi cereal on sale for $2.99. There were purple peelie coupons on the front of the boxes with 3 different coupons: $1 off any Kashi cereal, $1 off Kashi crackers, $1 off Kashi frozen items.
Pair this sale with the coupon and the boxes of cereal are $1.99. That’s not a bad price for cereal, especially the Kashi brand. I bought a few boxes of the Kashi “cheerio” version.
OR you can print the new $1.50 Kashi coupon here for an even sweeter deal: $1.50/1 Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal or Crackers printable (IE) or printable (FF) .
(thanks Couponing 101 for the printable tip)
Using the $1.50 printables the cereal is $1.49 a box!
Next stop Target:
Target had Kashi crackers for $2.59 (regular $2.99)
You can print the $1.50 Kashi coupons (above link) or use the $1 off Kashi crackers coupons if you got the Kashi cereal or your store might have the save $1 off Kashi Heart to Heart coupons sitting on the shelf waiting for you like they were for me!
Kashi crackers after the coupons: $1.09 to $1.59
