The truth is I’m not one of those women who skate by early pregnancy with flying colors. I trudge though those long months with lots of tears ….and trying every “morning sickness” remedy and concoction known to man. Pregnancy is a labor of love and self-denial for me which ends me spending a large portion of those first 4 months heaving over the toilet…the other portion of time is spent in a constant state of miserable nausea.
The happy part of the story is that in the end, I’m so relieved to have that sweet little baby in my arms. All that hard work…. and here she is!
However, the smells and tastes that affected me in early pregnancy seem to linger and occasionally, I’ll run into something that reminds me of that time in my life.
Here’s where the new hot tea that I bought comes into the story. Celestial Seasonings produces a line Holiday Teas around Christmas time. This year I picked up 2 boxes of Holiday Tea: Candy Cane Lane and Gingerbread Spice.
I love the Candy Cane Lane tea. It is a green tea peppermint mixture.
but the Gingerbread Spice is a mixture of ginger and cinnamon– and has all the wrong smells and tastes for someone who recently had bad 24/7 morning sickness and swallowed ginger capsules by the handful and drank gallons of ginger tea.
The Gingerbread Spice tea is one of those foods ruined by early pregnancy for me. If your struggling with morning sickness… you might try it…it may help!
I’ll stick with peppermint tea, mulled spiced cider and hot cocoa this winter!
